BANNED from the UWL: Lee Price
According to several quotes posted on paintball forum website PBNation, Lee Price (a cousin or brother of Dale Price of the Paraplegic Turtles) is the first recipient of a league-wide ban from the Ultimate Woodsball League. Read on for additional details and a few quotes from league commissioner Tom Cole on the player ban.
The Ultimate Woodsball League (UWL) has been gaining serious popularity in recent years. Since the leagues inception in 2009, the UWL has attracted players new and old back into the woods to compete in the 10 man series. The league is headed up by former NPPL President and retired professional player Tom Cole of team Bad Company and has been focused combining the best parts of tournament play and woodsball environments.
Tom recently instituted a league wide ban for a player cheating. The move is sure to send a message across the community that un-sportsman like conduct won’t be tolerated.
In the Spirit of the Game
Paintball has traditionally relied upon a spirit of sportsmanship that places the responsibility for fair play on the player. Highly competitive play is encouraged, but never at the expense of mutual respect among competitors, adherence to the agreed-upon rules, or the basic joy of play. Protection of these vital elements is important to the UWL. Such actions as taunting opposing players, dangerous aggression, and intentional infractions, or other ‘win-at-all-costs’ behavior are contrary to the spirit of the game and must be avoided by all players. Players not able or willing to live up to these standards will not be allowed to play in UWL events.
That said, Lee Price from the Turtles will not be allowed to participate in any future UWL events till further notice. Most of the players on the Turtles lived up to my expectations of fair play and acted honorably on the field with the exception of Lee! So no further actions will be taken against the Turtles.
Thanks,
Tom Cole
A later update was shared by Tom;
Cheating will get you banned in the UWL. If a players is caught intentionally breaking the rules he is not welcome back. Wiping, using a tool on the field to turn gun up, and other such offense will get a player and or team tossed. Teams and players have the right to expect a fair game. I work hard to make sure that is what the UWL offers. We cannot judge games in the woods the way they are judged in an arena so our penalties have to be stiffer.
Lee was banned till further notice for cheating. I saw the infraction and made the call.
So it is simple. If you do not want to follow the rules and play with honor and sportsmanship the UWL is not for you.

The last player we recall receiving a league-wide ban was Jeremy Salm in 2002. Salm was suspended for the 2003 season due to un-sportsman like conduct. For the full story on Salm’s incident, check out the Warpig write up from the 2002 World Cup (hit CRTL-F [find] and type in Salm).
If your interested, be sure to check the UWL thread at PBNation for further info.
What are your thoughts on leagues taking a stronger stance against cheating and un-sportsman like behavior? Is cheating part of the game? Or, an issue that is preventing growth and enjoyment? Share your thoughts!
