Tampa Bay Damage Win Again!
It's been a long time coming, but the Pro Champion of the 2012 PSP Galveston Island event has finally been crowned! Congratulations to Tampa Bay Damage on winning their 3rd consecutive PSP event!
Due to extreme weather at the March 9 - 11, 2012 PSP Galveston Island event, the Pro games were postponed mid-way through the preliminary rounds and pushed to today - the day before the PSP Phoenix Open - in Phoenix. The games began at 8 am in the bright Phoenix sunshine with Houston Heat taking on Tampa Bay Damage. Ironically enough, these two ended up battling through the prelims, quarter and semi finals only to face off again to play for the Championship. Tampa Bay Damage are coming off of winning the 2012 PSP World Cup in Orlando last October, while Houston Heat - a new team in the PSP Pro League - formed in the off-season with a mixed roster of experienced pros and up and comers.
Their first match of the day started with a solid lead for Houston Heat, but Tampa Bay Damage suddenly gelled and made an incredible come back to win that prelim match. Tampa Bay Damage needed to eliminate the Ironmen in the semi-finals while Houston Heat faced off against San Diego Dynasty. The match up in the finals wasn't the same as Houston Heat had hoped for however as Tampa Bay seemed unstoppable. So for now, it's time for Tampa Bay Damage to celebrate... but still stay focused enough to play tomorrow morning in the PSP Phoenix Open prelims!
The action is far from over in Arizona as tomorrow morning, 115 teams begin battling it out all over again at the 2012 PSP Phoenix Open. Games begin at 8 am and all of the Pro action will be broadcasted live at www.paintballaccess.com/live/
