Rumors regarding the large scale purchase of paintball manufacturing giant Procaps by its original founder Richmond Italia and the G.I Milsim brand appear to have substance. What this translates into for paintball remains to be seen but hopefully the outcome will see more great paintball products continue to hit the marketplace for us as consumers. The Catshack Reports has been following this story and went to work trying to dig up the news and put a swift end to all of the rumors currently abounding on the internet.

According to our insider sources and not unlike former giant “Smart Parts”, a financial institution seized Procaps last Friday December 2nd, 2011. Apparently next week a judge is said to be signing the paperwork etching a ProCaps bankruptcy in stone. After which it is now our understanding that it is at this point G.I Milsim is poised to move in and purchase the assets left behind. Thus the reason certain media circles continue to await the official word and rumors continue to swirl across the internet.

The Catshack Reports did contact Richmond Italia directly, while Richmond could not comment he did mention “it’s a little nuts with everything going on these days” Richmond went on to state “All I can say is whoever buys ProCaps would not spend tens of millions to see the demise of ProCaps. And would more than likely invest in it’s future in order to bring the asset back to it’s glory days“…. we do hope to speak further with Richmond shortly as more “official” news comes out.

While this news remains officially “unsubstantiated” … the likelihood is almost certain that ProCaps as a manufacturer of quality paintballs is at an end. The Catshack wishes the very best to the ProCaps staff during this very difficult transition. While yet another sad day for paintball seeing a staple of the paintball community collapse, hopefully some good can come out of this with G.I Milsim picking up equipment and technology to forge ahead and continue to create quality paint for the paintball communities use.
